Primal means Fundamental.
The new program, Primal12 is simply using CST and Yoga to train the twelve most fundamental motor control patterns in human movement. Now Primal is also a big buzz word in the fitness industry right now...
It seems that we are returning back to our 'primal' roots and rediscovering what it means to move like our ancestors did. Though this transition toward Primal Movement seems new, I have first hand experience that it most certainly isn't.
Rewind to ten years ago when I attended my first CST seminar with my Coach Scott Sonnon. I was a very green (new) personal trainer who was previously taught in my other certifications, to train people to lift weights for two sets of 15 repetitions. I was to alternate antagonistic muscle groups, and super set these exercises to build a lean body. What happened was boredom, overtraining, and no one learned to move better. Then I came to a CST seminar. My world got turned upside down.
Scott Sonnon was one of the only people in the industry at the time (if not the only) who was teaching these primal (fundamental) movements. It was very very foreign and weird and almost hard to wrap by brain around. But, like any dedicated student would, I trusted him and kept on trying. Scott is honestly a pioneer in the fitness industry, and usually is about 5 to 10 years ahead in terms of training systems.
So when you see Primal 12, and you recognize that this is something extremely different, something that the fitness and YOGA industry has probably never seen before... that is because is truly is the first. It is the first program to train primal movement patterns, yoga based movement, and Clubbell Yoga...
Scott spent years in Russia studying in a biomechanics think tank to create CST, I was lucky enough to get the distilled version from him directly and put it in my own laboratory (my studio). He gave me tools to craft this program, and I put my heart and sweat into making it just right for you. It now leaves its mark on the timeline of fitness/yoga.
